GODS ASSIGNMENT: To take a group of 50 kids, between the ages of 11 and 17, to Memphis, TN for a weekend trip for black history month.
OUR FOCUS: To tour downtown Memphis to view different black history museums, Historic Memphis LeMoyne College, and other sites.
OUR PURPOSE: To gain more understanding of black history month. One of our groups main focal points will be to visit the Lorraine Motel, now the National Civil Rights Museum, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot. This trip will help our youth gain a different perspective of Black History Month by learning what people went through outside of a textbook. This experience will be an eye opener for us all, and will give us a better understanding of the history of African American people.
